Crafty Baby Shower Gifts

This past weekend was my sister-in-laws baby shower up in Alabama. She is the one that I made my latest diaper cake for (which I am SUPER proud of). I love how I used the stuff from her registry to decorate the cake: links around the top 2 layers, baby shampoo and lotion, wrist rattles around the shampoo and lotion bottles, spoons, teething rings, etc. Also, this was the first time that I used crinkle paper between the layers and I really liked how that looked.

The girls and I (hubby is playing army for 2 weeks) made a vacation out of it. We drove 7.5 hours up to my parents house for a few days, then made a day trip up to AL for the shower. We had a relaxing time at my parents' lake and it gave Pop pop and Gigi time with the girls. Plus, Charlotte got to see the horses (twice) and feed the fish.
But back to the crafty projects... the diaper cake wasn't the only crafty gift that I made it to the shower with. As timing would have it, one of the blogs I follow posted instructions on how to make those adorable onesie & burp cloth cupcakes the day or so before I left. When I got to the lake, I showed my mom the instructions and we decided do give it a shot.

We didn't have one of those nifty bakery boxes so we wrapped a box lid with pink paper and filled the bottom with the crinkly paper. I used the gerber 3-pack of onesies as well as burp clothes and topped them off with cute little bows from walmart. This may be my new favorite baby shower gift!! If I get the gender and initials ahead of time (ahem ahem Shannon... :) ) then I would totally embroider monograms or cute little designs on them. Perhaps this will be a good 'Congrats on the birth of your son/daughter' type of gift.

  1. Well, excuse me! ;) Not only do we not know our baby's gender, but we are not even set on initials yet my dear friend. But, aforementioned sister-in-law and my practical due date buddy told me yesterday that they haven't decided their daughter's name yet either. So at least I'm not the only one! I can't wait for you to get creative once our babies are born :)
